I think those who discredit this for being more of a cookbook than a "lifestyle" book have missed the point of hygge and weren't paying attention to Johansen's writing. She constantly mentions food in each chapter and the vital role it plays into fueling an active lifestyle, maintaining a wholesome diet, how it brings loved ones together, how making more sustainable food choices affects nature and your body, etc. Simply put, the recipes are a big part of the book because it's a big part of hygge.I also understand some of these ingredients aren't readily available at a local supermarket--but we're all on Amazon right now, aren't we? With it and the Internet with countless shops and stores and items online, we really don't have the excuse of saying, "This is just too exotic, I can't possibly find it, I can't possibly try this, it's too much work to find this."Give it a shot! This is a great book with lovely insights, and I guarantee everyone will take something away from it.

Get comfortable and snuggle up with this book about “Danish coziness." I swear I felt myself relax with every page! This book encourages the reader to eat well, get out in nature, find a sport to enjoy no matter your age and spend time with your "community." Beautiful book! I’m trying to incorporate some Hygge into my life and home without spending gobs of money...little things like clearing spaces, candles, lighter picture frames... These little things do make my home more cozy. But just reading the book alone makes you feel more relaxed and cozy. I really love the book and am sending to friends for gifts.

I got this from the library first and loved it so much I had to buy it. I enjoyed the author’s focus on the outdoors, something often glossed over in other books on hygge, and her empowering take on life. She seems very at ease in her body, and her body positivity was bolstering and inspiring. Other books talk decor and downtime, which the author definitely covers as well; but I love how much further she took it.

Lots of recipes involving specialized items which would involve complicated trips to far-off specialty stores, kind of a Hygge-killer right there. But the photos are gorgeous and the non-recipe commentary is excellent. Skol!

I thought this book is well written, with equal attention to all the nordic cultures. Its very interesting, and i would love for her to write something more in depth.

About the Author Minister Jerrod Smith is happily married, and he and his wife have two daughters. Jerrod is an ordained minister of the gospel. Jerrod graduated from the University of Minnesota where he received a B.A. in Mathematics. He also holds a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, and a Masters of Divinity from the School of Theology Virginia Union. Jerrod was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was put out of the organization for hazing, and then was reinstated after a symbolic absence from the rolls. After he was reinstated officially he continued to haze prospective members. Jerrod now serves the Lord as the Pastoral Administrator, General Counsel, and an Armorbearor at Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries under the leadership of his parents in the ministry, Bishop Daniel and Co-Pastor Elena Robertson. Jerrod is also a son in the ministry of Rick and Pastor Rose Jarvis. Brother Clifton Lucas is happily married and he and his wife have two sons. Clifton worked in corrections, and while working in the prison system he ministered to individuals that needed personal relationships with the Lord. Clifton was led to leave the penal system and to work in the private sector. In the private sector he worked in a group home ministering to individuals and leading them to Christ Jesus. Clifton has ministered in the area of preaching the gospel through the jail and prison ministry at Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries. Clifton ministers in the area of an Armorbearor and security. Clifton graduated from Virginia State University with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Clifton was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. Clifton's association with the fraternity changed his personality so much, and caused him to do ungodly things that he was led to renounce his membership.

Few people have the experience and insight with building peace that John Paul Lederach brings to the topic. Anything he writes is worth study. There are gems in this book but, that said, for the best introduction to Lederach, I recommend The Moral Imagination, a classic.

i found this book to be very interesting particularly for people who are interested in how conflicts influence identity. it does not only provide theoretical analysis but also provides a framework for action in order to build peace in communities affected by internal conflict that involves identity issues.

This book by John Paul is a very very useful discussion of peacebuilding and how peacebuilders can best engage in thier work. His use of graphics and diagrams makes complex theories accessible. When asked what to read about conflict and peace, this book is at the top of my recommended list. It is thoughtful, compact and applicable in many contexts. My unqualified recommendation!

This book is a must have for all peace practitioners and those who study peace and conflict. I have used it in numerous papers and have made my students read it for class.

I have no disappointment in the content of this product. However, I am anxious to digest the connection between materials here with the cultural dimension that has always seen my part of the world as 'developing' or 'underdeveloped' especially since most of the principles I am encountering are almost second nature to us.
