I think those who discredit this for being more of a cookbook than a "lifestyle" book have missed the point of hygge and weren't paying attention to Johansen's writing. She constantly mentions food in each chapter and the vital role it plays into fueling an active lifestyle, maintaining a wholesome diet, how it brings loved ones together, how making more sustainable food choices affects nature and your body, etc. Simply put, the recipes are a big part of the book because it's a big part of hygge.I also understand some of these ingredients aren't readily available at a local supermarket--but we're all on Amazon right now, aren't we? With it and the Internet with countless shops and stores and items online, we really don't have the excuse of saying, "This is just too exotic, I can't possibly find it, I can't possibly try this, it's too much work to find this."Give it a shot! This is a great book with lovely insights, and I guarantee everyone will take something away from it.

Beautiful book! I’m trying to incorporate some Hygge into my life and home without spending gobs of money...little things like clearing spaces, candles, lighter picture frames... These little things do make my home more cozy. But just reading the book alone makes you feel more relaxed and cozy. I really love the book and am sending to friends for gifts.

I got this from the library first and loved it so much I had to buy it. I enjoyed the author’s focus on the outdoors, something often glossed over in other books on hygge, and her empowering take on life. She seems very at ease in her body, and her body positivity was bolstering and inspiring. Other books talk decor and downtime, which the author definitely covers as well; but I love how much further she took it.

Lots of recipes involving specialized items which would involve complicated trips to far-off specialty stores, kind of a Hygge-killer right there. But the photos are gorgeous and the non-recipe commentary is excellent. Skol!

I thought this book is well written, with equal attention to all the nordic cultures. Its very interesting, and i would love for her to write something more in depth.

About the Author Minister Jerrod Smith is happily married, and he and his wife have two daughters. Jerrod is an ordained minister of the gospel. Jerrod graduated from the University of Minnesota where he received a B.A. in Mathematics. He also holds a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, and a Masters of Divinity from the School of Theology Virginia Union. Jerrod was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was put out of the organization for hazing, and then was reinstated after a symbolic absence from the rolls. After he was reinstated officially he continued to haze prospective members. Jerrod now serves the Lord as the Pastoral Administrator, General Counsel, and an Armorbearor at Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries under the leadership of his parents in the ministry, Bishop Daniel and Co-Pastor Elena Robertson. Jerrod is also a son in the ministry of Rick and Pastor Rose Jarvis. Brother Clifton Lucas is happily married and he and his wife have two sons. Clifton worked in corrections, and while working in the prison system he ministered to individuals that needed personal relationships with the Lord. Clifton was led to leave the penal system and to work in the private sector. In the private sector he worked in a group home ministering to individuals and leading them to Christ Jesus. Clifton has ministered in the area of preaching the gospel through the jail and prison ministry at Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries. Few people have the experience and insight with building peace that John Paul Lederach brings to the topic. Anything he writes is worth study. There are gems in this book but, that said, for the best introduction to Lederach, I recommend The Moral Imagination, a classic.

i found this book to be very interesting particularly for people who are interested in how conflicts influence identity. it does not only provide theoretical analysis but also provides a framework for action in order to build peace in communities affected by internal conflict that involves identity issues.

This book by John Paul is a very very useful discussion of peacebuilding and how peacebuilders can best engage in thier work. His use of graphics and diagrams makes complex theories accessible. When asked what to read about conflict and peace, this book is at the top of my recommended list. It is thoughtful, compact and applicable in many contexts. My unqualified recommendation!

This book is a must have for all peace practitioners and those who study peace and conflict. I have used it in numerous papers and have made my students read it for class.

I have no disappointment in the content of this product. However, I am anxious to digest the connection between materials here with the cultural dimension that has always seen my part of the world as 'developing' or 'underdeveloped' especially since most of the principles I am encountering are almost second nature to us.

Jack Bogle is a hero of mine. I may not be the most fanatical Boglehead, but (i) I regard his achievements with awe, (ii) I've been a Vanguard client more or less since I emigrated to the US and (iii) his mantra of "keep the costs low" has been mine as well for more decades than I care to recall.Alas, this book was a big disappointment. (i) It is a continuous stream of conceit. There's no denying his superlative achievements, but this book reads like an arrogant twenty-something's LinkedIn posting. (ii) The book is desperately short of objectivity He relentlessly presents every argument he can find in support of his own ideology, but the only references to arguments against are to those that he feels he can knock down. (iii) His references to performance are all based on comparative returns, but he makes no mention of comparative volatility.This book would have been *so* much better if it had been written by an outsider. (i) The inevitable huge praise for Vanguard would have come across as much more seemly than the boastful tone to which the reader is subjected here. (ii) The reader would (I hope) have been presented with a much more objective viewpoint. (iii) The points against the Bogle approach would have been evaluated more fairly. I have little doubt that Bogle would have been described as a vitally important and beneficial force in the investment world and that would have carried so much more credibility coming from an outsider than coming from Bogle himself.Your achievements speak for themselves, Jack: you do yourself no favours with such unbridled bragging.

I have read four of John Bogle's books, and his clear analytical advice guided me in investing for my goals over 30 years. His guidance on reducing investment costs to obtain most of the market return has guided me on my own investments and in my role as trustee for several family trusts. In reading his book "Stay the course", it is evident that John Bogle puts the fund shareholder's interest first and his personal gain near the last. This is exactly the reverse of most investment adviser. In each of his books and in my interactions with Vanguard employees, it is clear that the fund investor's interest is ranked first. I recommend all of Mr. Bogle's books.

The story that was fascinating was how Jack took a for profit company and get it to be a not for profit company. It was a long and tedious process. From reading other literature and books, it was vague how Jack was able to get it to happen. Then going no load. Without Jack, we would still be paying 8.5% commission to buy a mutual fund and paying high fees for active management.I also like the final chapter on his memoir on Jack's personal reflections.I have read all of Jack's books, and I would call this one his best. Jack explains reversion to the means in examples where things go up and then go down, so a waste of time chasing yesterday's winners.OK - I am a little bias, I bought the Vanguard STAR fund in 1985 and the Windsor II fund in 1987. Two of my best decisions early on.
