Bought this for my boyfriend who is an avid fisherman he LOVES this book. He is constantly reading me excerpts and they are really interesting and often make me laugh. As with Gierach's other books, I found "Standing In a River Waving a Stick to be entertaining as well as enlightening. He seems to have a way to write about fly fishing and life in a special way. If you love fly fishing or have never tried it, I think you will enjoy this book as well as his other books!

Well worth your time if you're even remotely into fly fishing. The author has a great selection of stories from his experiences. Will definitely be reading more of his books.

Cassie Stephens is the rock star of art educators! As an elementary art teacher myself, and the mother of a seven year old, I felt I needed to have this book in my resource library. Not only did it give me great ideas for lessons with my students, but it taught me about different mediums to use AND it inspired my own kiddo to create more things as well! The pictures and projects are bright and exciting, provoking ideas in their viewers. Cassie explains the projects to make it easy for any level of expertise.

This book is beautifully laid out, clear and concise. I especially love the food clay projects, which I'll be using next school year. I appreciate Ms. Stephens including several air-dry clay mediums, as my school does not have a kiln. I'm super happy with this purchase!

I preordered this book and received it this summer to start planning for my art classes this year. In December I used the recipe for "Simple No-Cook Clay", Lab 41. Mixed up a batch with 12 different classes, first grade through high school. The kids helped measure, add, and mix ingredients. Then we used the clay to make "Stamped Clay Ornaments", Lab 42. They turned out great! Lots of fun and the step by step instructions with photos make it easy. Next, we're making a "Miniature Cactus Garden" from Lab 16 with terra cotta air dry clay!

This book has a lot of great ideas. I am a PreK4-5th grade art teacher. I can't wait to try some of these ideas with my students in August! I would recommend this book for parents, teachers, kids, or anyone who enjoys being creative.

I love Cassie Stephens Art Education blog. I ordered this book as soon as she posted about it. What is great is that it doesn't disappoint and has a variety of ideas that can be done different types of clay. With budgets getting smaller and smaller, this has some cost cutting ways to do a clay projects with the kids on a dime if only I were that lucky more like a penny these days. I can't wait to she what she does next.
